Rockabilly Hall of Fame editor Rod Pyke's initial thoughts. Monday, October 12th, 10:30pm.
I have been home about 9 hours now and must report that Hemsby 21 lived up to all expectations. It is the the best I have attended and all the the bands, artists and DJ's gave their best and helped to make it a weekend to remember. The attendance was up 15%
HIGHLIGHTS OF MY WEEKEND:
1. Spending a lot of time with Sammy Masters, Carl Walden and their wives, Otis Williams and Merrill Moore and his wife a credit to their country. You couldn't wish to meet nicer people. Hearing all their stories from the past.
2. Standing on the first tee with Sammy and Otis at Great Yarmouth Golf Club.
3. Drinking many Screwdrivers (Vodka and Orange) with Otis Williams.
4. The Hemsby crowd, the best in the world, every day is one long party.
5. The Rimshots, Curfew, Jack Baymore and the Bandits, in fact all the artists I saw.
Disappointments:
Having to wait until May 1999 for the next one.
